Diabetics suffer 75,000 lower extremity amputations a year due to poor foot care examination. To stem the tide of these of amputations, frog designed a scale that uses illuminated mirrors to magnify the foot’s sole for easy viewing by the elderly and obese who have diabetes. The Insight Foot Care Scale is designed to help patients spot the first signs of foot irregularities and help stop the rapid rise in amputations.
The Insight Foot Care Scale received an IDSA IDEA 2009 award. It is named one of the fifteen designs to “Improve Your Life” by Business Week.
